Joerg Sprave is one of the master gurus in the world of slingshots. In this video, Joerg demonstrates the “butterfly” style of firing a slingshot. This is a good video to watch is you intend to buy slingshots, because it could determine which type of the many slingshots for sale you should consider.

On his YouTube video post, Joerg wrote that when he shoots in the butterfly style, “The rubber is pulled out very far, so that the arms of the shooter are spread out like the wings of a butterfly.” Joerg shows some slight variations of this style, too. You will undoubtedly notice that Joerg has some rather well developed arms. This technique is much easier with arms like that, kids.

Joerg’s written video note continued, “This method will deliver much more power than the often used ‘corner of the mouth’ anchor position.” He’s right, of course. Much of that power depends upon the quality of the butterfly band you’re using at the moment, but a lot of it depends on how buffed your arms are. Joerg says this himself in the video. You’ll get “a lot more power” with this shooting style, but “it’s also a good workout.”

Joerg smiles slyly, knowing his arms are superior to those of most men. “Believe me, it’s not easy,” he says humbly. He could crush me with his bare hands, I bet.
