Teach a man to fish and he’ll always eat, they say, and a slingbow is one easy way to help feed yourself after civilization has crumbled all around you. Of course, until then, a slingbow can just be a whole lot of fun. In this video, we’re shown a homemade slingbow that is used for fishing. This bow could also be used for small game. It is, after all, a type of hunting slingshot.

The young man in the video stands on a little pier and explains his slingbow. At first glance, this slingbow looks like a cross between a pistol and a wristrocket. This guy is a bit McGiver-esque, as we see that this slingbow is made with “an old 50 cent keyring” and two rubber bands. Those simple elements form a simple but effective way to facilitate aiming your arrow. It occurred to me, too, that in a pinch this slingbow could also shoot things other than arrows. Remove the rubber band-keyring aiming part and you could shoot most kinds of slingshot ammo.

I don’t want to give too much away, but after I watched this short video (1:53) a couple of times I felt confident that I could build one of these quickly, easily and cheaply. Here, at your number on slingshot stop, we believe that having this kind of knowledge is a good way to be prepared.
