Just a friendly reminder that this is a commentluv hunting blog. Any good comments will be approved. What is a good comment? Anything over two sentences that use the words slingshot, hunting, wrist rocket and any other keywords that fit this site.

That means that if you leave a comment that says “nice post,” I will not approve it. Why leave such a shitty comment after taking all the time to fill out the comment box? Stupid if you ask me, but it’s your dime so spend it any way you so choose.

So leave a good comment and you will get some commentluv back!

Top Five Slingshots

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

This is will be a short summery of the top five slingshots that are on the market today. I have been selling slingshots for some time, and I use this ‘inside” information to rank the slingshots. I also read reviews and keep up on all the latest in slingshot technology.

I like slingshots because of how long they have been used as weapons and for hunting. One could argue that the slingshot is one of the oldest weapons in human history. Throughout history, going as far back as David and Goliath, there have been many variations of the slingshot.

The story of David and Goliath was written at about the same time as when Homer was writing his works. That would be around 800 BC. The story that is being told is from the past, and could be referring to a time around 3000 BC. That makes the first recorded slingshot about five thousand years old!

Getting back to the top slingshots of our time:

#5 Coming in at number five we have the . Right at $10.00 For fewer than ten bucks, you can’t go wrong with this basic slingshot. This makes a great starter slingshot for kids.

#4 Next, at number four in my review, we have the II Talon Grip Slingshot. Under 15.00
This is a popular high-velocity model with a magnetic pouch that also folds for easy storage.

#3 Filling in the number three position is the . Under $20.00 This is a slingshot that also comes with a mini maglite for shooting at night. The critters seem to come around at night, so this is a handy feature to have. It also has a range of up to 185 yards.

#2 The number two most popular slingshot is the . Under $15.00
This slingshot falls into the high-velocities class of slingshots. With its extra powerful band, this slingshot is of greater power than most slingshots. This model also folds, making it easy to pack along.

#1 And… The number one all-time favorite slingshot on the market today is the . Just over 20.00 This is a professional grade slingshot, and is by far the most popular model on the market today. It’s slightly more expensive than the other slingshots on the market, but with all the features and fantastic accuracy, I can easily see why so many people choose the Diablo over all the others.

All of these slingshots make for excellent weapons, and may also be used in paintball games called sling paintball. They are great for hunting small critters as well. The average speed and distance of a wrist rocket is slightly less than that of a paintball gun, but a wrist rocket can serve as a great backup weapon, or it can be used as a silent sniper weapon. The hand rocket has a long history as a toy for children, as a hunting weapon, as well as being used in war. They have come a long way, and are the perfect thing for hunting or driving off nasty critters that get into your garbage!

How to Make a Slingshot

I just found a great 10 step instruction article on how to make a slingshot that is worth adding to my how to make a slingshot video and article list.

Most slingshots (like slings) are not merely toys. With the right construction and ammunition, this ancient device can also be a lethal weapon suitable for hunting small game in a survival situation. This article provides instructions for making a catapult-type slingshot, an old and remarkably simple design. It’s fun to make and fun to shoot at targets, but it can be dangerous, so never shoot it in the direction of people or animals.

Video: The Slingshot Man

The Sling Shot Man

Rufus Hussey, also known as “the slingshot man,” or as he would say “the beanshooter man.” No matter what you call him, Rufus was without a doubt a top marksman and master slingshot maker. He even appeared on the Johny Carson show. Rufus passed away in 1994.

Homemade Slingshots

Some people still make old fashioned homemade style slingshots, like the famous Rufus Hussey.
Rufus Hussey was known as “the bean shooter man” because of his expert marksmanship. Rufus could hit a June-bug off a leaf from a considerable distance.

He started making and shooting slingshot when he was a kid growing up during the great depression out of necessity, and later went on to make them for fun. Rufus passed away back in 1994 after more than 50 years of slingshot mastership.

Still other people who make wrist rockets may carve beautifully engravings in the stocks and will also use exotic woods. They can become quite fancy.

Today’s modern wrist rocket manufactures use the very best rubber and leather pouches making these more than just toys, but rather highly tuned weapons that are fun to own and shoot.
